Hi, my name is Julia, and I’m a stay-at-home mom…

(…hi, Julia)

You know, it’s funny. I always pictured myself as the career mom. In fact, for a while there, I was the career mom – for 15 months I worked full-time, with my daughter in daycare. I dealt with my guilt (badly) because we couldn’t afford to live on a single income.

Then, our daycare situation imploded. That complicated things a bit.

I tried working from home, full time at first, then part time. Suffice it to say that it rapidly became clear that in order to succeed at that endeavor, I would have had to significantly lower my standards for both parenting and work.

Hubby and I talked it out, did some legwork, and then did the unthinkable. I quit my job, and we moved across the country with our toddler, all so that we could find a low enough cost-of-living to get by on just my husband’s income. As we started settling into our new home, I learned something that would come to define how I expended a great deal of energy as a SAHM:

It is darn near impossible to meet moms.

Oh sure, you might like someone okay and even make new friends, but then their kid terrifies your kid. Or Mommy and Me groups don’t work out – you meet moms but not the right moms. Or the kids get along, but talking to the mom is like talking to the Pacific Ocean. Or everything is okay, but your kids have different nap schedules, or the age gap is too big, or they are actually too far away for playdate invitations to be viable. Once you do meet moms, your parenting styles are just a little too different. Who knows, but the task of meeting moms turns out to be impossible.

After trying about 1000 different strategies with very little success to meet moms in my area, I decided that there had to be a better way for moms to make friends.

And that’s why we started to develop Mom Meet Mom. Mom Meet Mom takes the stress out of meeting other mothers and finding playdates for your kids by using your answers to questions about yourself and your family to introduce you to local moms with similar interests, schedules, parenting styles, personalities, and outlooks.
